4; George Techmitchov explains the history and evolution of materials used to make archery nocks. From the horn & bone used to make nocks in medieval times, to the nitrocellulose "Mid Nox" introduced in the 1940s, to the butyrate nocks debuted in the 1960s, all the way to the introduction of polycarbonate nocks in the 1980s; which remains the modern standard for target arrow nocks today.
